Position Summary:
Looking for a Lead Systems Engineer to lead team of systems engineers, also build and participate in designing the J2EE applications, wireless OSS systems, working with the development team, in setting up Proof of Concept. Partner with Application developers and business owners in design decisions. Main focus of this position will be to focus on providing technical direction and lead in systems implementation in the lab environment. Provides answers to customer inquiries concerning system software and applications. He also interfaces with 3rd party hardware and software vendors and have wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issue. Having experience in Wireless industry will be very helpful. Manage, Install and maintain multiple servers (SUN T1000/T2000s) and the applications that run on these servers. These applications primarily use Weblogic J2EE and JBoss application servers as well as Billing and Rating applications. Hands on experience in installing the Solaris systems, deploy Weblogic application servers, deploy and configure ear/war/jar files as necessary. Support the build environment in development and qa and perform duties as necessary. Must have strong communication and documentation skills and prior experience with Solaris 10 administration, Weblogic 8.1/9.2 administration, JBoss 4.2X and Linux administration.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide leadership and guidance to the team of systems engineer.
2. Provide day-to-day management of multiple staging, qa and development environments.
3. Set up, tune, and manage the environments and servers for development, staging, qa, and training (Apache, JBoss, Linux, and Web services)
4. Work closely with systems Engineers and developers to troubleshoot application and environment issues to ensure system availability, performance, and other services level agreements are met in the lab to meet the various project deadlines.
5. Manage, Test and deploy new application releases and patches as necessary
6. Create and manage user level access to the environments for local and remote users
7. Develop plans, schedules and requirements for installation and maintenance of new and revised software
8. Deep understanding of Wireless OSS and systems tuning to enhance reliability and performance of the Staging, QA, and dev environments
9. J2EE application systems design
10. Sun Solaris Operating system installation/jumpstart
11. Installation and configuration of BEA Weblogic/JBoss application servers
12. Documentation of the design details with visio diagrams where necessary.
13. Manage installation of ear/war/jar files.
14. Hardware installation and patch management.
15. Ability to build and configure Solaris global zones.
16. Manage security of servers.
17. Monitor servers and applications for errors and performance problems.
18. Support Applications in dev/qa and staging environments.
19. Tune application and operating system and hardware for optimal performance and general JVM tuning.
20. Trouble shoot application networking issues
21. Capacity planning and hardware sizing.
22. Planning and implementing disaster recovery and high availability for critical systems
23. General troubleshooting of operating system, hardware, and application problems.
24. Assist in the development and implementation of server standards for all new servers.
25. Assist in the documentation of current and future systems.
26. Provide Linux support as required
27. Manage Lab(s) server inventory
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 6+ years of hands on J2EE (Weblogic or JBoss) experience.
2. Hands on experience in engineering with a Wireless carrier or service providers. (5+ years)
3. Experience working with High-Availability Cluster systems
4. Hands on experience with BEA Weblogic/JBoss/WebSphere application servers is a must.
5. Java experience and JVM tuning (no programming skills required, but you should know how it works, how to spot and debug it, and how to work with code developers)
6. Strong Solaris 8/10 skills (5+ years), with prior hands on experience in building/jumpstarting Solaris systems.
7. Experience with setup and maintenance of three of the following : Weblogic App Server, Weblogic Portal,WebSphere App Server, WebSphere Portal, Apache , Tomcat, LDAP, Asset Management tools.
8. Shell scripting (sh, ksh, PERL, sed, awk, etc.)
9. Good understanding of J2EE concepts
10. Deep understanding of RMI, JMS, JDBC and Application Server Cluster setup.
11. Oracle UNIX Tuning in a Solaris environment
12. Experience with the following tools: Jumpstart, Kickstart, Solaris packaging tools (Sun packages)
13. Experience with setup and maintenance of at least three of the following servers/services: DNS, FTP, HTTP, NNTP, DHCP.
14. Experience in an ISP environment is a plus.
15. Software coding experience a plus (JSP, C, Java, etc.)
16. Ability to work with minimal direction, yet also able to work in a team environment.
Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
